2010 Zigo New Year’s Essay Winner: Pat in New York City!
Congratulations to Pat in New York City! He is our first annual Zigo New Year’s Essay Winner. We’ve shipped his Zigo Leader to Al’s Cycle Solutions on the West Side in Manhattan for assembly. As always, if you’d like to try a Leader, check our Dealer List to locate a dealer near you.
“The Zigo as Therapist”
I have come to the conclusion that the Zigo Leader is the key to my marriage, my career, and my mental health. Let me explain. My wife recently took a job which she loves, but which has her traveling almost half time. When she departs, she leaves me in the middle of New York City with my son (3 years
old), my daughter (1 year old), and our dog (5 years old). This would be fine, except for one major problem. My son’s preschool is about a 25 minute walk southeast of our apartment, my daughter’s daycare is about a 20 minute walk west of his preschool, and my office is about a 25 minute walk
northeast of her daycare. In other words, I spend about 70 minutes each morning walking in an enormous triangle, with kids who are willing to sit in a slowly-moving stroller for about 10 minutes before they get restless. And then the triangle walk is repeated at the end of the day. The results are
predictable: screaming kids doing everything they can to unbuckle their stroller straps, short, unproductive days at work, and growing resentment toward my otherwise wonderful wife. My rough calculations suggest that the Zigo bike would cut the triangle commute to about 20 minutes, would eliminate the kids’ grumpiness (they LOVE riding in bikes), would increase my productivity at
work, and would reduce my resentment toward my wife almost completely (the Zigo can’t help with the kids once we get home, unfortunately).
